Last Eagle Rock Family Hike of the Season from League of Women Voters
October 15, 2022 @ 10:00 am–12:00 pm
FreeFor Immediate Release
League of Women Voters offers its
final Eagle Rock Reservation hike for 2022
Having provided fun and natural diversion for families and hikers on a monthly basis throughout the Spring and Summer, the LWV.Eco “We Love Eagle Rock Reservation” hiking series draws to a close with its final 2022 hike on Saturday – October 15, 2022.
Join us at 10:00 am when we muster at Eagle Rock’s 9/11 Memorial before heading out on the Reservation’s trails, led, as always by our experienced trailsman and former Tail Keeper of the Year in Essex County, Ron Pate.
This month Ron and his merry band of outdoor enthusiasts will focus on fall reforestation / species adjustment, examining and assessing the state of the Reservation’s woodlands in preparation for County work removing invasive plant-life, to augment the development and growth of local vegetation, making the Reservation’s eco-structure more sound.
There is no charge for the event. We ask that if you wish to bring snacks and water, their packaging be environmentally conscious; and we recommend you wear good hiking footwear. The track for our hike is not difficult, but roots and rocks along the way suggest that proper footwear if the best way to guard against turned ankles and the like.

The League of Women Voters is well-known for its dedicated and effective efforts in the fields of voting rights, education and access. Through its Environmental Issues Committee [LWV.Eco], the League works to advocate for and improve environmental issues in our community.
Founded in 2004 and following the models of successful similar ventures benefitting local area parks [Brookdale, South Mountain Reservation and countless others], the Eagle Rock Conservancy is a watchdog for Eagle Rock Reservation, a local gem most famous for its amazing view of the New York Skyline, but also the site for great hiking trails, nature observation, and “family time in the woods”. A visit to Eagle Rock immediately transports hikers from a suburban/exurban mindset to a place to commune with Mother Nature.
The Eagle Rock Conservancy invites experienced master gardeners and trail maintainers to email Ron Pate at EagleRockConservancy@gmail.com to volunteer your skills to help improve the Park.
We’ll see you back on the trails in Spring 2023
