We’re halfway through the second annual “Plant-Based for the Planet” month and Montclair’s participating restaurants have really stepped up to the plate! They are offering innovative and delicious meat-free meals you won’t want to miss out on. 

Planted Society, Humane Montclair and the Montclair Township Office of Sustainability are co-sponsors of the month-long initiative. It’s a great opportunity to try out some great plant-based dishes and reduce your environmental impact. Plus, it supports local restaurants. A win win!

Here are some highlights:

Sushi without fish? Chef Kenny from De Novo makes it happen! Among its 12 new specials this month, De Novo is offering three plant-based sushi rolls such as Asparagus, Carrots, Pickles, Avocado, Cucumber, Sesame Seeds; Cucumber, Avocado, Mango; and Asparagus, Avocado, Cucumber, Soy Paper.

Chef Meny Vaknin of Marcel Kitchen & Bakery has created three different dishes using 100% plant-based protein Chunkâ„¢ products, including filet, brisket and tacos. It’s worth noting that Marcel’s is only the second restaurant in New Jersey to offer this new animal-free protein product.
