  1. Seems to mew that a Lost and Found should be a minor feature of the website, something that you can click on if you’ve either “lost” or “found” something. If you don’t fall into either category who gives a hoot.

  2. You might read the post and know of someone who has lost something and pass that information on to them. If you don’t “give a hoot, then don’t read it.

  3. Oh, boy, Nobama is lost and we better find real leadership or we’re going down the slippery slope to the Fed Gov intruding in our daily lives.
He looked America in the eye and wagged his hand and lied when he said the Economic Recovery Act didn’t contain Earmarks. Is he totally clueless? The whole thing is earmarks. First Bush lies about the reason we go to war and now Nobama tells the Country a bold face lie so they will back his porkulus bill of spending bullspit. Wow.

  4. I like the lost and found on the main screen. Like the above poster said, if you dont have anything lost of found, dont read it!

  5. Iceman, you listened to the entire speech looking for one thing to pick on. Bravo, you did it.
Even your soul brothers in the chamber, the GOP leaders, offered Obama a standing ovation, numerous times.
And please share with us the connection between Obama’s speech and a missing bracelet.

  6. Paul Begalla made a very interesting point the other day, noting that Republicans are currently making the same mistake with Obama that Democrats did with Reagan — they are attempting to demonize a guy that the overwhelming majority of Americans like.
The most recent polls show over 65% of respondants think Obama is on the right track, and that the stimulus bill (while flawed in some respects) is a step in the right direction.
But Ice, you can continue to sound the alarms and warn the country that Obama is clueless, and that he is leading us all to ruin.
The problem for you is — most Americans don’t seem to agree with you.

  7. At this point the Republicans are attempting to demonize a guy who is not only popular with the American people, but also immensely popular with our international allies.

  8. He’s only been in office for a month…of course he’s popular! The honeymoon glow is still happening. Come back in 6 months, a year from now and lets’ talk. I am willing to give the guy a chance but geez, please stop anointing him until he has actually done something.

  9. I am certainly not anointing him, MM. Rather I am noting that as you say, he’s only been there for a month and so should not be pilloried anymore than he should he annointed.
If he falls on his face, the public perception will turn. George Bush had very high approval ratings until he stumbled into war and made a series of disasterous economic moves.
But while you’re telling others not to “annoint” Obama, you might also want to tell folks not to crucify him either. It works both ways.

  10. Agreed. I am just pointing out how fragile public opinion is. Look at David Paterson, the Governor of New York. Granted, he was not elected but when he took office, the public adored him. He was everything Spitzer was not. However, look how quickly the bloom has faded from the rose.

  11. If Bobby Jindal is the new face of the conservative Republican party, the Democrats will be in power for a long time.

  12. croiag….bush initiated tax cuts in 2005 and we had 52 straight months of economic growth. At the same time, the Dems of the House and Senate Banking committes encouraged fannie mae to continue buying loans from banks who gave mortgages to people who couldn’t afford them. And now we asking buffoons like Barney Frank to make policy….wake up please.

  13. Ice, I’m awake. Bush initiated tax cuts while at the same time running up the biggest deficits in the country’s history and trying to fight two wars. A child could (and often did) tell you that can’t work.
And it didn’t. We see that.
Your 52 months of economic growth is pure Hannity nonsense. Look at the numbers — see what kinds of jobs those were. Look at the percentage job growth vis a vis Clinton and Bush, Sr.
The man was an unmitigated failure. That doesn’t make him a bad guy by any means, but he was not the man for that job.
You might also want to delve a little bit more deeply into the history of the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac downslide. I know that it revs up the red meat crowd to pretend that this was all a Democrat-inspired boondoggle, but history tells us something quite different.
At the end of the day, there is no point in discussing matters with folks who are so unabashedly partisan, and who appear to care more about finding someone to blame than in solving problems.
Fortunately, the American people seem to be waking up to the futility of this approach, talk show radio fans aside.

  14. “52 straight months of economic growth” – sure based on a house of credit cards that was bound to fall. It turned into the biggest economic crisis of our lifetimes.

  15. It’s amusing to hear the Republican backers continue to beat the drum on tax cuts as a panacea. In 8 years, Bush increased the national debt from $5 trillion to $10 trillion – guess what paid for those tax cuts Ice!! So where did all of that “economic growth” go? The tax cuts are still in place, but the economy is contracting and the debt was increased by $5 TRILLION. Are your really saying that the exact same policies that created the mess are going to fix it?

  16. Ice, did you see that interview that Glenn Beck on FOX had with that out and out bonafide socialist guest? The guest said that the most socialist of the campaigners last fall was Sarah Palin because she forced the oil company in Alaska to spread their wealth to all the citizens of that state. Glenn had no response at all. But he did offer M&M’s to his guest numerous times during the interview.

  17. Ah, come on! This guy is a failure right out of the gate, purple lips and all (Why does he have purple lips, anyway?)
His speech pattern gets on my last nerve!!!!
I have a friend who grew up in Red China and even he thinks this big zero is a commie.

  18. I have a friend who grew up in Hanoi, and she thinks montclairgirl (she of the ruby red lips) is an idiot.
You know, everyone has an opinion!

  19. I’m finally getting my kitchen renovated. They are down there now running cool power saws and making banging noises. I smell sawdust! I do, I do!!
I’m using Chris Stearns and he’s been great.
    I smell sawdust!!!!!

  20. Yeah, what’s with those purple lips? And that nappy hair too! I bet he keeps it short so we don’t notice!
    OMG! Could he be….BLACK???

  21. congrats Mellon. We redid our’s last year and I remember the excitement too when it started.

  22. When the Big Zero started his speech by telling us what we already know, I fell asleep. And why was Michelle wearing a purple party dress? She looked like she was going out dancing.

  23. Thanks ROC, We filled over 20 boxes with stuff from the kitchen prior to today. I shudder to think how many boxes we’d need if we had to move.

  24. Congrats, Mellon!
We are putting in a new kitchen floor come April. We got a really good deal from Empire and our dog had a say in the type of floor. Originally, we were going to get wood laminate but as my Labby pointed out, she loves to run into the kitchen at mealtime and the laminate would be too slippery for her. So, we opted for a lovely Mediterranean-style vinyl. Goodbye fugly 1950s linoleum!

  25. Thanks MM,
Our linoleum floor must be from the 60s. It’s pretty nasty and I can’t wait to see it go. We’re probably going to get some new linoleum that looks like wood.
Our cats don’t run into the kitchen, they saunter. We’re keeping them cooped up in the upstairs bedrooms and they are not to thrilled about it. One of them scratches and bangs the door in protest. He’s pretty big and it makes quite a racket.

  26. Well nellie she was surely wearing the purple dress so as not to clash with her husband’s purple lips.
    Silly!
I am very happy that both you and montclairgirl are focused on the important things.
We have nothing to worry about given this level of political sophistication.

  27. Back as far as the early 80’s, the truly deep, politically urgent issue of Obama’s “purple” lips (which to me might hint that the Capitol’s a/c was just running too hard) could have been quickly resolved one way or another by a simple adjustment of the color controls on one’s TV.
MellonBrush, I will merely cop a bit from Dr. Seuss as to the hard realities you’ll face re your kitchen renovation: Oh, the places you’ll go!…Oh, the “fun” you’ll have….

  28. Mellon, it might be a good time to hit Blockbuster and rent a copy of “The Money Pit”.
But it will all be worth it in the end.
Will there be a place to store the axes?

  29. Cro,
I can’t wait to see the finished job. I’ve been transferring money from my equity line to checking so I can pay these guys. Thank goodness I have low interest on the equity line.
No room for the ‘axes’. They’ll stay put. I take them out of my closet to moisten the ‘Dampit’ humidifiers, once a week. Every time I look at them, I think to myself, “Damn!, I’ve got a shit load of guitars.” Perhaps I’ll sell a couple to put a dent in the cost of the kitchen. 😉

  30. Cro…We all know that the problem is not partisan as the majority of Americans seemed to have taken the financial stance to buy the item on credit and hope they can pay if off. But much of this attitude was propogated by the Clinton admin and other Dems who felt the American dream to own a home was a right and pressured banks to make more and more risky loans knowing that Fannie and Freddie would purchase them. Granted, the Republicans didn’t push hard enough on the regulations because the Dems pushed back at every juncture.
I’m not familiar with Glenn Beck but he sure seems to have gotten his comeuppance for sure.
Good luck Mellon on the new kitchen…way to pump money into the economy.

  31. “…was propogated by the Clinton admin and other Dems who felt the American dream to own a home was a right and pressured banks to make more and more risky loans…”
BS. The idea of universal homeownership was propogated by Eisenhower, and endorsed by every president since — Repo or Demo. It was Reagan who started the evisceration of the regulatory bodies, which resulted in all the goniffs crawling out of their holes and heading down to Wall Street. The product of that feeding frenzy is what we are suffering now.

  32. “This administration will constantly strive to promote an ownership society in America. We want more people owning their own home. It is in our national interest that more people own their own home. After all, if you own your own home, you have a vital stake in the future of our country.”
    George W. Bush 12/16/2003
The same socialist Bush who proposed the Zero Downpayment Initiative to allow the FHA to insure mortgages for first time buyers without a downpayment.
The same socialist Bush who signed the American Dream Downpayment Act, to help buyers with closing costs and downpayments.
The same socialist Bush who pledged to increase minority homeownership by over 5 million families, and who CALLED UPON THE PRIVATE SECTOR to help in this effort by making mortgages available.
Ice, you and your boy Hannity need to spend a little time looking at history. You’d be surprised what you find.

  33. Tint and color are fine on the TV. No one else has purple lips.
    My thoughts:
Lack of oxygen to the brain
    A cold, cold soul
    Too many purple ice pops
Michelle has something attached to “them there boys” and uses a remote device to control her man

  34. JG…so what are the real news sources? Please save your preaching time and look at the facts:
Our purple lipped leader aims to remake America as a European failed socialist state. He is gonna take the world’s greatest democracy and superpower and turn it into just another muddled, failed nation-state. An also-ran. A run of the mill country. Nothing special.
Here is a quarter to put in your eyelids so you can see properly what is about to happen to this once great nation.
