While we’re in the midst of one of the worst economic recessions in 50 years, our companion animals think it’s all a big joke and continue to lounge around the house basically doing nothing all day long.

I imagine that some of them secretly snicker behind our backs as we trudge off to work every morning—after feeding them and attending to all of their needs, naturally.

One Bloomfield woman, however, has had just about of this and has written a book titled, Careers for Your Cat (Ten Speed Press/Crown Publishing/Random House). Cat owner Ann Dziemianowicz will be signing copies of her book tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m., at Barnes & Noble’s New Author Evening in Clifton Commons.

In these tough economic times, while you’re toiling away bringing home the bacon, what’s your cat doing all day?” she asks. “Sleeping again? It’s time for your lazy, freeloading feline to get a job! Your cat can take the ‘Meowers-Briggs’ Career Personality Test to find his dream job and become a contributing member of the household while you take a well-deserved cat nap.

Careers for Your Cat offers 34 careers–from celebrity photographer to psychotherapist—delightfully illustrated by artist Ann Boyajian. The book was listed as one of 10 Notable Debuts in the September 2010 issue of Writer’s Digest.
