“How can I get the house to look fun and festive for winter now that the holiday decorations are all put away?” These pipe cleaner and beaded snowflakes were so easy to make and look so pretty hung in the windows and on bookshelves. We are hanging them in the windows along with the paper snowflakes my daughter has been busy cutting out. Hey, it’s going to snow and we can complain about it or we can celebrate it!

Here is what you will need:

  • White or silver pipe cleaners cut in half
  • Assorted beads in clear, white, grey, silver and blues tones. Petal beads, tri-beads and clear round beads come in packages and are inexpensive. The strings of beads cost a bit more but give you more options when creating the snowflakes.
  • Scissors
  • A needle nose or round nosed pliers (not necessary but helpful)

(Pipe cleaners available at A.C. Moore and Michaels, beads and pliers available at Montclair Bead Works, A.C. Moore and Micheals)

Start by looking at pictures of different snowflakes in nature. Try Google “snowflake images.”

  1. Twist three pipe cleaners together  in the middle
  2. String beads on to pipe cleaner, add quarter sized pipe cleaner pieces to change the look
  3. Twist the ends under to keep the beads from falling off.

Hang them with mono filament, yarn or thread in your windows for all of Baristaville to enjoy!

  1. Ooohhh, pretty!

Where does one get a glue gun? I’m sure you are having a heart attack right now realizing that there are people out there w/o glue guns, but it’s true. But I think I need one to fix some material around my kitchen sink (it doesn’t have any cabinets under it). Can you do a post about that? Or, come to my house for a tutorial?

  2. You can get low temp glue guns at AC Moore or Michaels they are only about $3.99. Are you trying to skirt the sink with fabric?
