A beloved Maplewood piano teacher and community activist, Patricia “Tricia” Woods, passed away in her home on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 after a long battle with breast cancer. Forty-four years old, Woods was a jazz pianist, composer, educator, and author.

Born and raised in Tupper Lake, New York, she was a biology major at Brown University, studied music at Cornish College in Seattle and received a Masters in Music at City College in New York City. She lived in Maplewood for seven years.

She is survived by her husband, Gregory Jones, her son, Christopher Woods-Jones, her parents Robert L. and Mary Elizabeth Woods, her sisters Catherine and Maureen and her brother Robert.

Viewing and services will be on Saturday January 15:
The viewing will be at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Route 23, Cedar Grove from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The funeral mass will be held at 12 noon at Saint Catherine of Siena, 39 East Bradford Avenue, Cedar Grove

  1. To be fair, 44 is too young for a good person to leave this earth. One must remember that Hitler turned 44 in 1933. His death that year would have saved the lives of millions.
