This just in from Lieutenant Fred Egnezzo of Glen Ridge:

All patrol officers were dispatched to the parking lot of 710 Bloomfield Ave. on a report of a carjacking in progress.  Upon arrival the suspects had left the scene and officers reported the following:  An older model black vehicle pulled into the parking lot occupied by possibly three black males.  One of the suspects exited the vehicle and approached the victim while sitting in their vehicle.  The suspect, described as a black male in his twenties with long dreadlocks, wearing dark clothing, opened the car door and physically tried to remove the victim from the car by force, at which time the victim gave a struggle and the suspect let go and fled the scene.  During the carjacking attempt another suspect believed to come from the same black vehicle stole a Dodge Durango which was parked in the parking space next to the original victim.  All suspects and vehicles fled east on Bloomfield Ave. towards Bloomfield.  The carjacking victim received minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.  This case is under investigation and anyone with information is urged to call the Glen Ridge Police Detective Bureau at 973-748-5400.
