Montclair Township has released complete election results from last week’s municipal race.

Among the things that popped out at us:

Karen Turner carried the 1st Ward, with 991 votes to 805 for Robert Jackson and 665 for Harvey Susswein. Jackson carried the other wards.

While Jackson teammates Bob Russo and Rich McMahon carried the At-Large race, at 3,503 votes and 2,731 votes respectively, the contestants who ran with Karen Turner did not trail far behind. LeeAnn Carlson won 2,541 votes and Peter Zorich was close behind with 2,508 votes.

  1. I wonder what share of the town’s revenue comes from each ward.

Has anyone seen any analysis of this?

  2. Turner and Susswein split the “reform” vote. Their totals together would have beaten Jackson.

Susswein was the “Ralph Nader” of this election.

  3. RoC, I’ve seen others say that about Susswein and Turner, but I talked to no one who chose between them. Rather, it was a choice between Jackson and Susswein.

  4. uh, ok. The vote wasn’t split between two slates promising outsourcing and cuts. But rather, was split between a slate promising outsourcing and cuts and another slate promising the polar opposite.

  5. walter, maybe we could devise a system wherein voters who make more money have their votes counted for double? maybe we could do that nationwide, too, huh?

  6. Jackson carried three wards. He won. Big. Get over it.

relax is right, stop all this analyzing and trying to make sense of things! Instead, clear your minds and repeat after me, in unison:

What relaxpeople says; that is the Law. Are we not Men?

Not to suck up Drink; that is the Law. Are we not Men?

Not to eat Fish or Flesh; that is the Law. Are we not Men?

Not to claw the Bark of Trees; that is the Law. Are we not Men?

Not to question Jackson; that is the Law. Are we not Men?
