Andrea Panico is the owner and creative director of Pico Design, a studio in Montclair which offers jewelry inspired by architecture. She has been inspired by the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, Tadao Ando and many others, but today her inspiration comes from the Twin Towers. She has created these Limited Edition sterling silver 9/11 earrings and she is auctioning them off today to raise money for the 9/11 Memorial.

Andrea explains:

As a person who draws inspiration from architecture, I could not help but be influenced by the World Trade Center. As a kid living in New Jersey, the Twin Towers were iconic and inspirational and represented NYC in a way I can’t imagine growing up without. In August, 2001 I was married in Jersey City, with a view to the WTC. Every single one of our wedding photos features the towers–just 2 short weeks before the horrible events of 9/11. That day affected me deeply, as it did for many other friends and family. These earrings are my celebration of the majesty of those towers, a nod to their elevation and the footprint celebrated in the memorial. Tomorrow, on 9/11, I will be offering this single pair of post earrings for sale. The information on how to buy them will be posted on our FB page. All proceeds from the sale will be going to the 9/11 Memorial.

The opening bid price is $100. You can bid on the earrings on Pico’s Facebook page here today.
