Greenleaf Compassion Center Temporarily Closes Due To Poor CropGreenleaf Compassion Center in Montclair, the only medical marijuana dispensary in the state, has shut down for two weeks to try and build up a surplus of quality product.

Neither Greenleaf’s website or answering machine indicate any type of closure, but the Star Ledger reports that patients were notified by phone this week that all appointments were cancelled until further notice, according to Julio Valentin, COO of Greenleaf.

Back in March, Greenleaf was struggling to meet demand and was accepting patient from just seven counties in N.J. Greenleaf opened its doors in December 2012.

  1. California has built up a robust (legal) grower system, supply chain, and distribution points. And the authorized distributors seem to have a diverse supply of product.

Perhaps NJ could authorize Greenleaf to purchase a few kilos from a legal grower out there. Colorado allows imports of product from California for its legal distributors, too.

(Although given how difficult the state makes life for legal out of state wine shippers, I can’t imagine they’d cut any slack for a weed retailer)

  2. I’d imagine all the rain we have been having is adversely affecting this year’s harvest of the Devil’s Lettuce.

  3. Sad for people who were depending on it for pain relief.

Do you mean the 1 pct of customers who actually have pain, or the 99 pct who suffer from ordinary pain of existence?

  4. walleroo, I was kind of thinking of people with cancer who desperately need pain relief.

  5. Anyone been waiting longer than Oct. 19, 2012? I read that new patients were seen within two months. I live 20 minutes from the Montclair Dispensary. There is no reason I have been waiting so long. Unless they are letting whom they want first.
