sandra cokeA search for the sister of Montclair BOE member Tanya Coke has tragically ended. Authorities on Tuesday announced that the body of a woman found last week near a Vacaville park was that of Sandra Coke, the missing federal defense investigator.

An online site to raise funds for Sandra Coke’s 15 year old daughter has been set up in her name by friends and colleagues. On it, her family says:

The Coke family is devastated by the loss of our beloved Sandra. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and auntie, and a shining light in our family; her good cheer, easy laugh and generous hugs will be missed. Those of us who were privileged to know Sandra will remember her as an unusually kind, generous and big-hearted person. She passionately devoted her professional life to helping the poor and those who endured difficult childhoods. All of us will miss Sandra’s beautiful, giving spirit.

Baristanet offers our deepest sympathies to the Coke family.

  1. This is sad news indeed. Ms. Coke had worked as an investigator for the public defender’s office in Sacramento assigned to look into capital cases that were appealed to federal court to ensure death sentences were fair.

Given the circumstances of her disappearance and death, one cannot help but think that foul play was involved here.

  2. I was hoping for a positive outcome, but sadly, my worst fears were realized. My sympathies to Ms. Coke and her family.
