flu shotIt’s flu season and now’s the time to get your shots. Yes, I’m talking to you. If you’re a parent, you most likely vaccinate your children yearly, but think you’re somehow safe without one. You’re not. I’m guilty of it too. I have skipped some years, but this year, I vow to get vaccinated, because I had the flu once, and I truly thought I was done. I have never been sicker and I don’t want to tempt fate that I won’t get it again.

The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older should get vaccinated against the flu. Flu activity most commonly peaks in January or February. However, seasonal flu activity can begin as early as October and continue to occur as late as May.

Montclair and nearby health departments recently held a few flu clinics, but don’t worry if you missed them, here are other local places to get your shots:

flu clinicShopRite Brookdale in Bloomfield will hold two flu clinics in a couple weeks:

  • October 24  from 10 am – 2 pm
  • October 30 from 3 pm – 7 pm

Cost:  $19.99  (FREE with Medicare)

You can also click here for a handy flu finder and see other local pharmacy locations who will vaccinate you.
