noches 1A wonderful Baristanet reader sent a tip Friday that Noches De Colombia had opened its doors at 19 Elm Street in Montclair.

We dropped by and found the place hoppin’ with families dining in and others stopping in for take out and catching a little bit of the World Cup at the same time. The food was yummy (great tostones and sweet plantains!) and the portions are huge (so order accordingly). The staff couldn’t have been more friendlier or attentive. The space is large, beautifully renovated and welcoming, too, with banquette seating and a dramatic chandelier in the main dining room. Have to head back to try empanadas, seafood and some tres leches cake.

Here’s a reader review:

Opened Friday, we took a ton of stuff out, including empanadas, guac, avocado salad, Colombian style ground beef with onions, and shrimp in garlic cream sauce. Good food and warm, friendly service. They looked busy all weekend, which is wonderful. We look forward to dining in – they did a great job with the space.

  1. In case anyone is interested…their phone number seems to have been a well guarded secret, but I found it on Anywho…744-3363.
