Speer & Crane

South Fullerton Avenue in Montclair is becoming a shopping hot spot with the addition, Speer & Crane. The haberdashery opened two months ago by brother in laws Chris Albanese and Jim Alamia when the duo noticed that there weren’t many mens’ shops in Montclair. With careful products decisions and dedication, they brought Speer & Crane to life and celebrated their grand opening two weeks ago.

“Business has been very good and over the holiday season, we’ve had lots of gift shoppers coming in. The opening was definitely one of our biggest sales days because of all the buzz going on,” said employee Chaz Tedesco.

Speer & Crane sells men’s accessories and gifts such as hats, cigars, passport covers, flasks, ties, and tie clips. Some of the products include a variety of $12 socks by Happy Socks and L’Chaim Stainless Steel Flasks for $40. We can’t forget the ties and bow ties by General Knot & Co and fine crafted hats by Goorin Bros. An array of upper class cigars starting at $6.25 are displayed in a large blue lit wooden cabinet.

Speer & Crane“We wanted a mix of different items that men would be interested in, while also looking for items that complimented the essence of the store,” said Tedesco. “We have some vaporizer products that we are trying to break into the market with.”

Speer & Crane sells aromatic blends, dry vaporizers, and different varieties of electronic cigarettes. Behind the register hangs a chalk board that lists e-cigarette juices such as “Watermelon Bubble Gum,” “Blueberry Ice,” and “Dew of the Mountainside.” They sell items by brands such as Pax Vaporizer and Kanger; their most expensive vaporizer is the Firefly Portable for $269.95.

Speer & Crane is located in between women’s boutique Wildly Smitten and restaurant Bistro 18.
