Howell

Howell Montclair (599 Valley Road, Montclair, 07043) has opened offering fine art, antiques, glassware, table linens, lighting, jewelry, kids games and much more.

The shop is owned by Montclair resident Carolyn Burbridge, who has a background in painting and print for large retail, and smaller art house designers. Burbridge also owns a business in the city.

Opening Howell Montclair was co-inspired by Burbridge’s friend Nico, who has worked in the retail and fashion industry. The shop is named for Nico’s father Howell, who makes some of the beaded Native American pieces in the store.

“We had been thinking about opening a store for quite a while, says Burbridge. “Initially we thought about the city, but I have three kids and live here in Montclair. I walked past the vacant store that we now occupy and everything fell into place,” she adds.

Burbridge hopes to make Howell Montclair a unique shopping experience.
