Fans of the delicious food at Anderson’s 1949 (Oh, that Elvis Waffle) will be sad to learn that Chef Sherry Grimes will be closing the Montclair restaurant at the end of January.
Our area may be disappointed, but for Grimes, the move is an exciting new opportunity.
“Anderson’s has been given the opportunity by some investors in Montclair to expand to California. We will be expanding the catering company to the west coast and opening a food truck in San Francisco. As a result, I am relocating to California in 2 weeks and have decided to sell Anderson’s 1949-Montclair (the turn key space only not the brand) to focus on this,” explains Grimes.
Grimes says Anderson’s will continue to cater larger events on the east coast from Brooklyn or Manhattan depending on the location. Anderson’s will also continue to do Chef’s Tables and in-home class instruction for larger parties.
The last day to eat at the restaurant will be Sunday, January 10, but Grimes says she will return to host a final goodbye brunch on Saturday and Sunday (January 23 and 24) so local customers can enjoy a final meal and wish Anderson’s well as they move on to their next endeavor.

While I am very happy for Sherry, I am totally bummed for myself. This place is a block away from me and has the most incredible food. I am going to miss your amazing skills Sherry! How can I face 2016 knowing this is happening?
