Bloomfield Police announce the arrest of two suspects involved in an armed robbery of a gas station, which led to a pursuit through multiple communities. The two men allegedly robbed the Shell Gas Station at 19 Beach Street at gunpoint Monday at approximately 6:11pm. The two suspects entered the station in a black Acura requesting two dollars in gas. The driver later identified as Clinton Scott then demanded money from the gas station attendant, while the passenger William Jones pointed a gun. The attendant handed over the money, approximately $300.00 dollars, at which time the vehicle fled onto JFK Drive. Bloomfield Police Units spotted the vehicle, which led to the pursuit. The suspect vehicle collided with another motorist in the City of Irvington. Both suspects were apprehended by Bloomfield Police with the assistance of Essex County Sheriff Department and Irvington Police Department.

There were no serious injuries reported from the collision and no injuries reported to the officers or the suspects. The suspect vehicle was impounded for further investigation. Police have not located the gun at this time but are continuing with their search. Clinton Scott age 45 of Montclair NJ, was charged with First Degree Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Eluding and Aggravated Assault. William Jones age 46 of Newark, was charged with First Degree Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Both are being detained at the Essex County Correctional Facility.
