2nd Annual Jared’s Fund Youth Fellowship – Deadline Extended

The Baillargeon-Zimmerman family is proud to announce that the deadline for the second annual Jared’s Fund Youth Fellowship (JFYF) has been extended. Applicants may apply through May 27, 2020.

These paid fellowships are offered to current Montclair High School sophomores, juniors, seniors and recent alumni. In light of the global pandemic and its economic consequences, the importance of young people leading conversations on mental health is especially evident. These fellowships are great opportunities for youth who are interested in mental health awareness and who may have lost summer jobs or internships or who are now stuck at home because a summer program got canceled. Fellowships provide four individuals or groups of Montclair High students or recent alumni the opportunity to work with a mental health-related non-profit or undertake a project of their own choosing during the summer of 2020. Created in close coordination with Montclair High School (MHS) and the Community Foundation of New Jersey, JFYF supported the inaugural set of fellows in the summer of 2019 and was deeply inspired by their work to promote a better understanding around mental illness.

Established in memory of MHS graduate Jared Zimmerman — who died in April 2016 as a direct result of mental illness — JFYF will provide each selected recipient or group a $2500 stipend for the six-week summer program. The program also supports a summer speaker series and training for the participants.
