If your New Year’s resolution was to eat more salad in 2021, you are in luck.

The Salad House, with locations in Millburn, Westfield and Morristown, has opened in Montclair at 18 So. Fullerton Avenue (in the former Bistro 18 spot).

Crave a big salad like Seinfeld’s Elaine Benes? The bowls at The Salad House will not disappoint (nicely chopped and densely packed, these salads made for a satisfying dinner). Create your own perfect salad or choose one of the Fresh Salad combinations (priced from $8-12.50) if you need inspiration — you can still customize those and add extras or delete any items.

Two to go from he Salad House – Oh My Gourd Salad with the addition of Crispy Chicken (pictured top) and a create your own salad featuring crispy tofu, edamame, crispy chick peas, mushroom and more.

Besides salads, you can order sandwiches or wraps, or the ubiquitous avocado toast three ways. There are also smoothies, soups, small plates (get the Crispy Brussel Sprouts) and sides including fries (regular, sweet potato, truffle fries or zucchini sticks). Kids’ menu items (options include grilled cheese or chicken fingers of course) make it a one-stop takeout spot for the family.

What we loved: The wide variety of ingredients. We make yummy salads at home but it’s fun to create a salad with so many ingredient options to choose from — roasted butternut squash, pomegranate seeds, crispy chick peas or candied walnuts, just to name a few. There are also a variety of protein options to add on to your salad beyond chicken (grilled or crispy) including crispy tofu, grilled shrimp, salmon, falafel, Ahi tuna and Angus steak.

Download the app to make ordering a breeze and pay in advance for easy, contactless pick up.
