Transportation 101: Making a pedestrian and bike friendly Montclair

October 6, 2022 @ 8:00 pm9:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every 3 weeks that begins at 8:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until October 28, 2022

Free

What are the benefits of a pedestrian and bike friendly town, and what does Montclair need to do to get them?  How can we plan our town to promote health, equity, livability, and social trust? Those are some of the questions that we will discuss in this book group from Montclair Climate Action and Bike & Walk Montclair.  Over the course of several weeks we’ll be reading Building the Cycling City: The Dutch Blueprint for Urban Vitality. We’ll be exploring how the Dutch were able to turn a car-centered society into a society that was walk- and bike-friendly, discussing all the benefits that came with that, and talking about what Montclair might learn from them.   We hope to make this a longer term book group, looking into ways to make Montclair a more climate-friendly and sustainable town.
