Wendy Wasserstein’s Dramedy “Third”

October 30, 2022 @ 2:00 pm4:00 pm

$20

Penny Paul, Rachelle Rennagel of Montclair in Wendy Wasserstein’s Dramedy “Third,” Opening on October 28th at Nutley Little Theatre.

In “Third,” college professor Laurie Jameson encounters an unusual student in her class on “King Lear,” and their conflict sets off a series of upheavals in the teacher’s family, workplace, and firmly held ideals.

This acclaimed play by Pulitzer Prize winner Wendy Wasserstein features a multigenerational cast of characters— with vastly different opinions on bias, success, and academic integrity — as they engage in spirited debates over timeless literature and contemporary issues as relevant now as when the show was first produced Off Broadway in 2003.

Performances of “Third,” directed by Brendan Stackhouse of Hoboken, will take place on October 28, 29, November 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 @ 8:00 PM; and October 30, November 6 & 12 @ 2:00 PM at Nutley Little Theatre. The theatre is located at 47 Erie Place in the Erie Place Historic District of Nutley. You can buy NLT tickets online by visiting www.nutleylittletheatre.com. Tickets are $20 with matinee discounts for students and seniors.

Performers include Penny Paul and Rachelle Rennagel of Montclair, Alex Ward of New York City, Jillian Mauro of Warren, and Jim Simpson of Bloomfield. Crew members include assistant director Ella Oleson of New York City and stage manager Susan Brody of West Orange.
